April 14, 2000 Huntsville, AL While it has made for a busy few months, exhibition or participation at the Space Technologies and Applications International Forum, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, National Manufacturing Week, and the Bio 2000 trade shows has proven to be a great success. More than 30,000 people have seen the exhibits, with more than 1,000 people taking the time to stop, visit, and talk with representatives from the Space Product Development Program and the Commercial Space Centers.

Participation in these shows has helped inform government and industry leaders about the Program and the opportunities it offers to industry and the public. It has also provided the opportunity for companies to discuss the benefits and costs of participation directly with Commercial Space Centers, and it appears that several new Industry Partners will be teaming with the Centers and the Program.

The exhibits have also helped raise general awareness of the program, the potential advantages of space and microgravity research for a wide variety and sizes of businesses, and the down-to-Earth benefits that have come from previous commercial research. From improved automotive parts to new medical treatments, the practical applications of commercial space and microgravity research have seized the imagination of visitors and helped lay the groundwork for future advances.
